Working draft of the CIDOC CRM

  • The version 3.4.7 of the reference document.
Nick Crofts, Martin Doerr, Tony Gill, Stephen Stead, Matthew Stiff (editors), Definition of the CIDOC object-oriented Conceptual Reference Model, October 2003 (version 3.4.7). Available: doc file (1,039 Mb), pdf file (347 KB).

  • The version 3.4 of the reference document in French.
Nick Crofts, Martin Doerr, Tony Gill, Stephen Stead, Matthew Stiff (editors), Definition du Modele Conceptuel de Reference du CIDOC(CRM), Novemder 2002 (version 3.4). Available: zip file (134 Kb).

  • The version 3.4 of the reference document. This version contains all amendments of modelling constructs until issue 114. It can be regarded as final draft of the CIDOC CRM, except for editorial changes to improve clarity of the text.

  • The version 3.4 of the reference document with automatically created cross-references as html hypertext. This version contains all amendments of modelling constructs, including proposals until Issue 114.
Nick Crofts, Martin Doerr, Tony Gill, Stephen Stead, Matthew Stiff (editors), Definition of the CIDOC object-oriented Conceptual Reference Model and Crossreference Manual, zip files (2.693 kb) November 2002 (version 3.4).

  • For users of SIS here the full implementation of CIDOC CRM version 3.4: Available: zip file (31 Kb).

  • This is a proposal how to encode the version 3.4 of the CIDOC CRM in RDFS. It uses double (inverse) properties and renders the version 3.2.2 obsolete. It identifies properties by a unique id as part of the property name:
Partial Definition of the CIDOC Conceptual Reference Model version 3.4 in RDF, December 2002. Available: rdfs file (58 Kb). Example rdf file (13 kb)

  • This is a proposal how to encode the version 3.4 of the CIDOC CRM in XML. It defines all properties as tags and refers to entities summarily with the tag "in_class". It can be used for data transport and for presentation using a suitable XSL style sheet:
Encoding of the CIDOC Conceptual Reference Model version 3.4 in XML, December 2002. Available: dtd file (19 Kb). Example xml file (13 kb)

Working draft of the CIDOC MetaCRM

The "CIDOC MetaCRM" is a proposal to support categorical and cross-categorical information, as it appears characteristically in ethnology, natural history, archaeology and other sciences, by systematic logical derivation of metaclasses and metaproperties from the CIDOC CRM.

  • This document is a draft of how the CIDOC MetaCRM could be defined.
  • This list shows the transition from properties to class properties. Properties that do not transform are marked in red.
  • This is a list of class properties with their domains and ranges. Properties that do not transform are left out.
  • This list shows the properties that do not transform.

How to Model Events

  • This is a draft document on How to Model Events
  • This paper discusses issues regarding event modelling.

  • This is a presentation based on the paper Supporting Chronological Reasoning in Archaeology by Martin Doerr, Dimitris Plexousakis, Katerina Kopaka, Chrysoula Bekiari, that was presented in Computer Applications and Quantitative Methods in Archaeology Conference, CAA 2004, 13-17 April, 2004, Prato, Italy.

CIDOC CRM Core metadata element set

CRM Core is a proposal of metadata elements for resource discovery. It captures the basic functions of identification, classification, participation, part decomposition, references and similarity.
CRM Core is not only a format for metadata elements for resource discovery, but also a very
simple schema for summarization of historical facts.

  • This document is a short description of the CIDOC CRM Core metadata element set.
  • This is the dtd file of the CIDOC CRM Core metadata element set.
  • This document is a graphical representation of the dtd of the CIDOC CRM Core metadata element set.
  • This document contains an example of the CIDOC CRM Core. For more examples please see the list bellow:
  • This document describes event-centric documentation  with the CIDOC CRM Core metadata element set
