    Dawn Leaf is the Director of System Architecture & Product Assurance at the Smithsonian Institution, and formerly served in a similar role at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

    Before joining the Federal Government in 1999, Ms. Leaf acquired broad experience in systems development and information technology management. She specialized in systems engineering for large scale distributed systems and advanced technology manufacturing.

    From 1995-1999 she was the Program Manager for several contracted systems engineering efforts for NASA and NOAA, including NASA's Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS) Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) and Integration and Test (I&T) program.

    Highlights of her 1981-1995 tenure with the Westinghouse Corporation (i.e. Northrop-Grumman) include appointments as the Manager of Information Technology of the Oceanic Division sonar manufacturing facility and Manufacturing Research & Development Programs, and receipt of the George Westinghouse Signature Award.

    Ms. Leaf holds an M.S. from the Johns Hopkins University, Whiting School of Engineering.
