Why is the upcoming meeting in Heraklion so important?

The main goal of the meeting is to bring together application experience on the CRM and start identification of the enabling factors to achieve knowledge sharing based on the CRM approach – a well-crafted core ontology of relationships. This should lead to a harmonization of efforts.

This meeting will cover the following issues:

  1. Presentations about ”Practice of Knowledge Sharing” – Good practice of compatible conceptual modelling, data mapping technology, ontology-based information access.
  2. CRM DIS version and FDIS version: Presentation of the CRM version sumitted as DIS, presentation of CRM version 3.4.9, discussion, if an FDIS submission is regarded necessary, and final decision on its contents.
  3. Ancillary documents: Presentation of ”User Guide to the CIDOC CRM”, a description of the CRM in terms of functional units of documentation, extending the CIDOC Functional Groups and Categories.
  4. Ancillary documents: ”CRM Light”, definition of a minimal level of compatibility.
  5. Application: Functional Specifications for CRM-based retrieval interfaces
  6. Discussion: Architectures for Knowledge Sharing – Mediation (querying a virtual global schema) against Datawarehousing (materialized interated view)

In order to have an effective discussion, we prefer to have new issues that are raised during this meeting to be discussed in the next meeting. In order to avoid such a delay, please do not hesitate to submit your issues before this meeting.

Speakers are kindly asked to leave at least 20 minutes for discussion.
